Audio/Video Script:
Sherri Sanders
County Extension Agent - Agriculture
Hello this is Sherri Sanders, County Extension Agent – Agriculture in Searcy,
Arkansas. September 8-13 is the week set for the 2008 White county fair to be
held in Searcy at the White county fairgrounds. There will be carnival rides,
livestock shows featuring some of the best animals in the state, rodeos,
pageants, educational booths and of course the horticulture exhibits. All White
county residents or those attending school in the county are eligible to exhibit
and compete for prize money and bragging rights for the year.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their home grown items to the White County
Fair in September. Garden vegetables, fruits, field crops, hay, flowers,
houseplants and floral arrangements can be entered in the horticulture exhibit
building. Jams, jellies, quilts, baked goods, art, crafts and handmade sewn
items are just a portion of what you can bring to the educational building for
exhibit and competition.
Rules and dates for exhibits can be found in the "White County Fair Tabloid",
which can be found at area businesses, the county fair office or the White
county Extension Service office located at 411 North Spruce in Searcy. If you
have questions or need assistance with entering your items in the fair, simply
call our office for help. We can be reached at 1-800-467-8166 or by email at
ssanders@uaex.edu. We will be glad to
help you and look forward to seeing you and your entries at the fair! This has
been Sherri Sanders in White county.
