[Melissa Potter] With demanding schedules it is very easy to get caught up
with juggling work, grocery shopping, and household chores. What is often
forgotten are the children. A good friend of mine once told me to slow down, and
quit worrying about getting everything done. She said something I think I will
never forget, “Time spent playing with your children is never lost.” What she
was meaning was that the fun times and memories with my child live forever in my
child’s memory. My friend was exactly right, so I started setting less important
things aside and spending some good quality time with my daughter Emma.
[Pictures of Emma]
Emma loves to play outside; we try and spend a good portion of the morning
outside swinging, sliding, and running around having fun. When I leave for work
I feel better knowing that I’ve spent time with her. I’ve found that we both
have more productive and calmer days when we spend that time together.

easy for me to feel guilty when I have to fold clothes or do the dishes.
[Picture of a mother and daughter washing and drying dishes.] But I have found
that if I include my daughter and make a game out of sorting clothes, or
clearing the table we can create bonding time out of everyday activities.

It is important to create memories with your child. [Picture of a mother and
daughter playing hand games.] My family has a lot of different routines.
[Melissa] One of my favorites is our bedtime routine. Emma is very active and
rarely sits still. But at bedtime she will snuggle up and drink her milk and let
me read to her. [Picture of a mother, father and child laying in bed reading a
book.] I cherish this time with her because I know at some point in her life she
will be too big to snuggle in my lap. [Picture of a boy and girl reading a book
outside.] Children are amazing, and can flourish and grow with your guidance and
love. [Picture of a boy and girl painting.]
Remember, our children want to play and be close with us. [Picture of

times we create. [Picture of a boy and girl playing with toy.]
