LITTLE ROCK - Three 4-H finalists for the governor’s award, the highest 4-H honor, had lunch with Gov. Mike Beebe and first lady Ginger Beebe and toured the governor’s mansion.

The finalists are Sydney S. of Pike County, Chris H. of Greene County and Justin B. of Washington County. A representative of the governor’s office will present a silver tray and a $1,000 scholarship to the winner July 22 at the state 4-H O-Rama in Fayetteville.

Dr. Darlene Millard, state extension 4-H director for the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, said the three senior finalists were selected by an independent panel of judges from a dozen applicants based on their state journals and interviews with the judges. State journals document a 4-H youth’s project work, leadership and community service.

The luncheon at the mansion took place June 29.
