Moles and Gophers
Moles and gophers are difficult pests for Arkansas homeowners.
Your Cooperative Extension Service recommends using harpoon and scissor traps
to deal with moles and gophers. Harpoon traps are the easiest for the homeowner
to use while scissor traps require tunnel excavation and repacking to properly
set.
Poison baits and fumigants are available in stores, but are illegal to use in
Arkansas - and are largely ineffective.

Peanuts
Peanuts and peanut butter are as American as apple pie.
And your Cooperative Extension Service recommends adding peanuts to your
diet. Peanuts are high in protein, niacin, antioxidants and benefit skin health
and brain function.
Peanuts are still grown in Little River County, and Arkansas is home to a
Skippy Peanut Butter plant and a Planters Peanuts food processing plant.

Chewing Gum
Chewing gum may be good for your health?
Your Cooperative Extension Service wants you to know that recent research
suggests that chewing sugar-free gum has many health benefits, including
reducing plaque and cavities, improving mental function, and relieving boredom
and stress.
Studies from the mayo clinic reveals that chewing gum burns 11 calories per
hour on average, and can help dieters by relieving between meal hunger.

Identity Theft
Identity theft can cost you big time.
Your Cooperative Extension Service recommends staying safe from identity
thieves by securing your mailbox from intruders and shredding all documents with
personal information before trashing them.
While on-line, only release personal and financial account information on
secure websites. Secure websites can be identified by URL addresses that begin
with https in them.
